May 26th was Cale's 8 month mark. The spring has been busy for us and May was no exception. Lots of traveling, to Palm Springs for me to visit Kristin's aunt and uncle and attend a conference (Kristin and Cale missed out because of the pig flu), and then with Kristin and Cale to Montreal.
Cale did well on his first international trip, and Kristin did great at her conference, successfully passing her fellowship exam as part of her graduate program - despite Mr. Cale staying up screaming all night before the exam. The week was also highlighted by Kristin's 32nd birthday. We celebrated with a romantic dinner over room service, whispering while Cale snoozed a few feet away. It was truly a treat.
It was also a treat to spend almost a complete week with him. He rewarded me by saying his first words to me - "Hi Dada!" - one day as I tickled his toes. Typical Cale, no real signs he's trying to talk and then he completes a full sentence for his first words! Kristin wasn't there and didn't believe me until two days later when he repeated it to me.
To continue with my shameless pride, I also have to mention that he enjoys reading books each night and helps with turning the pages for us.
In addition to traveling, we also attended a memorial day parade, cousin Zaden's first birthday (see post below), celebrated Kristin's first mother's day, and survived several weeks of colds. What a CRAZY month...
